We were delighted to welcome award‑winning mystery‑thriller author Sue Wallman to school this week for an inspiring day of talks and workshops.
Known for her gripping, twist-filled novels, Sue ran her How to Write a Thriller workshops with selected pupils in Years 8, 9 and 10. They explored how to structure a compelling story, build tension, and create suspense, while also experimenting with ideas for their own writing. Her practical guidance and creative activities gave pupils a valuable glimpse into the skills behind great thriller storytelling.
Sue also spoke to Year 7 about her fascinating career journey, the inspiration behind her books, and an insider’s view of the publishing industry. Her visit was thoroughly enjoyed by both pupils and staff, and many left feeling motivated to read more and write their own thriller!
