On Thursday 18th June, 15 Year 9 pupils, accompanied by myself and Mr Dale, went to Katharine Lady Berkely School in Wootton-Under-Edge, Gloucester, to participate in a Latin Play Competition. Our play, about the opening of the library in Alexandria and the subsequent contest of the poets, was superbly performed by the cast. All lines were learned, their diction was clear and their acting spot on. Sadly, we were only to come second, beaten on a technicality by Mr Chris Hamlett and his group from QEH School in Bristol.
The day was thoroughly enjoyed by all; praise, thanks and congratulations must be given in 3 places. Firstly, to Mr Dale for writing such a superb script and for making all of the scenery; secondly, to the pupils for their efforts in learning lines and attending rehearsals; thirdly, to the parents for making such wonderful costumes.
Hopefully next year the prize will be ours!
