NATIONAL BOTANIC GARDEN OF WALES

On Tuesday Year 5 visited the National Botanic Garden of Wales in Carmarthenshire as part of their studies into Life Cycles in Science. It was a beautiful sunny day and the Gardens were spectacular in full bloom. The children watched a '360 degree surround film' on plants in the Theatr Botanica, followed by a fascinating walk around the plants from a range of different habitats in the largest Glasshouse in the world. The highlight however, was the pond dipping session in a series of specially created ponds and the examination of the organisms in the laboratory. The children were enthralled with the newts, frogs, beetles, worms and larvae they collected. Thank you to Mrs Bradbury, Miss Almond and Mr Cox for helping out on the the trip.                                        Mr K Harper
