This week, we were delighted to welcome back two Old Llandavians whose visits offered pupils inspiring insights into their exciting careers.
On Monday, former pupil and chorister Ben Oatley (OL, 2012–2015) joined our Beauty and the Beast rehearsal. Ben, who has achieved success in London's West End and is currently playing Aaron Samuels in the hit musical Mean Girls, shared his journey into professional theatre. He gave pupils an honest perspective on auditions, rehearsals, and sustaining a career in the performing arts. The session included a lively Q&A, where pupils asked thoughtful questions and received practical advice on seizing opportunities, building resilience, and developing their skills.
On Wednesday, Ben Tossell (OL, 2001–2006) returned to present at the Aspire To… Business and Finance event and, the following day, led workshops with our Sixth Form Business and Economics students. As the founder of Ben’s Bites, a newsletter on AI, Ben shared his experiences in entrepreneurship and the evolving world of technology, offering practical insights on innovation, risk-taking, and adaptability. His advice to students was simple but powerful: “Relentlessly follow your curiosity.”
We are extremely grateful to both OLs for taking the time to share their experiences, inspiring our pupils, and demonstrating the diverse opportunities available.
