Performing Shakespeare

This term, pupils in Years 7–9 were invited to prepare and perform a monologue or duologue from Shakespeare’s works as part of the ESU Performing Shakespeare competition.

The standard was exceptionally high, with many inspired by last year’s entrant, Elsie M, who reached the Grand Final at the Globe Theatre. We are delighted that two acts have been selected to represent CSL in the upcoming regional heat: Henry M and Matthew W, who delivered a compelling duologue from the closing scenes of Macbeth, and Elsie M, whose poised and engaging performance from The Merry Wives of Windsor once again showcased her talent. All three pupils will also perform at our Shakespeare by Candlelight event in the Chapel on Tuesday 27 January. We look forward to celebrating their achievements and wish them every success in the competition.
