Primary Eco Schools Meeting at Insole Court

On Tuesday, our Primary Eco representatives from Years 2, 3, 5 and 6 joined with other pupils from the local area to attend the Primary Eco Schools Council Meeting held at Insole Court. It was an excellent opportunity for the pupils to develop relationships with other Eco reps from local primary schools, as well as share ideas and initiatives. The event started with a native wildlife presentation, where the children learnt about biophilia (meaning a love of nature). We discussed how our habitats and local insect and animal species are becoming extinct and the ways in which we can play our small part to help combat this. The pupils then joined in a variety of activities, including identifying different types of wildflower seeds under a microscope and creating their own mini seed gardens made out of newspaper and water. An inspirational visit which has our pupils buzzing about the ways in which we can further improve our local environment.
