Chapel Choir Christmas Concert

Chapel Choir gave their annual lunchtime recital of Music for Christmas in St John the Baptist Church, Cardiff.

Over many years, the CSL Music Department has established a strong relationship with St John’s, and this much-loved concert has become a firmly embedded and eagerly anticipated date in the calendar. Attended by over 160 people, Chapel Choir (now 35 pupil voices), under the direction of Mr Aspden with organist Stephen Power, gave a superb performance of seasonal carols, both accompanied and a cappella.

Solo choral items included: There is no Rose (Ellis); The Truth from Above (Vaughan Williams); In the Bleak Midwinter (Darke); Lullay, My Lyking (Stopford); O Holy Night (Adam) and Star Carol (Rutter).

The concert was an outstanding success and will be remembered as another vivid demonstration of the high performance standards of the Choir, many singers of which are former Cathedral Choristers.
