ESU Public Speaking: Round Two

Our young public speakers have enjoyed an impressive run in this year’s prestigious ESU Public Speaking Competition, with both CSL teams successfully progressing through the first two rounds.

In Round One, held just before Christmas, our first-time teams impressed the judges with confident chairs, thoughtful speakers and perceptive questioners. After compelling heats against Cardiff Sixth Form College and Ysgol Bro Edern, both teams secured their place in Round Two.

This week, we hosted Round Two of the competition, facing strong opposition from Cardiff Sixth Form, Ysgol Porthcawl and Ysgol Bro Morgannwg. Annabel L and Mikaeel M once again represented CSL superbly as main speakers, while Jude K, Govind A, Meg T and Toby M demonstrated poise and insight as chairs and questioners.

Following a nail-biting wait, both CSL teams qualified for the regional rounds of the competition, alongside one team from Cardiff Sixth Form. Congratulations to all involved for their dedication, teamwork and maturity, and thanks to Year 7 MCs Harry J B and Shay C for their excellent hosting and timekeeping!
