Year 1 and 2 were treated to a musical showcase from our wonderful peripatetic team in the Music department, who gave us all, parents included, a thoroughly entertaining hour of music. This experience was a fantastic opportunity for parents and pupils to listen to and see a range of instruments that the Infants can experience at CSL.
Pupils began by listening to the wonderful sounds of the recorder family (from the treble to the enormous bass recorder) and pupils even had a try themselves, which was great fun! We moved onto the lovely flute and toot (a combination of flute and recorder) as well as the versatile clarinet, who showed off its range of beautiful sound, which concluded our woodwind demonstration.
Bethan C, one of our talented music scholars, demonstrated the magical sounds of the harp, which delighted our youngsters. Remaining in our string family, the violin was beautifully showcased with the aid of two of our pupils, who represented their instrument perfectly! The cello was accompanied by Ms Blackman’s range of musical bears and children had fun joining in with the cello song as well as some Disney classics!
Finally, we heard instruments from the brass family, including our fantastic pBuzz and PBone (plastic trombone) as well as the trumpet. Parents and children learnt how to ‘buzz’, which provided plenty of entertainment. The showcase rounded off with a performance from the tuba, which had children joyously clapping along.
