Pupils and staff were today challenged to donate over 600kg of second hand clothes in a recycling initiative organised by the School's Eco Team.
Following the success of last year's event, everyone was issued with a recycling bag which they returned to school this morning filled with clothes, shoes, bags, bedding and towels.
120 bags were brought in, with the estimated weight standing at 1000kg, far exceeding last year's 600kg.
Collected by Bristol Textile Recyclers, the bags were taken to Bristol, where they will be recycled and exported to Africa to provide families with the clothing they so desperately need.
Emma L, Chairperson of the Eco Team said: "We were so pleased to beat last year's target - everyone obviously had a really good sort out over the Easter holidays and it's great that the clothes will go to such a worthy cause."
The Eco Team, set up in 2008 has already achieved Bronze and Silver Eco School Awards and is hoping to achieve its Green Flag this year.
