The Cathedral School has had an outstanding tradition for cricket throughout its history. It is one of the three major boys' sports and competitive fixtures are played in the Summer term. The School considers itself one of the top cricketing schools in Wales; victories in many County Championships throughout the years, would confirm this statement.
Many pupils represent their County at various levels, with an enviable number progressing to play for Wales.
The School has an exceptionally fine cricket square, very well used by our pupils and other establishments, junior square and indoor nets. Coaching at the School caters for players of all standards and all pupils have an opportunity to represent their School. Links with local clubs also enhance the standard of the game at the Cathedral School.
We are proud to host Glamorgan 2nd XI, Cardiff MCCU and annual 1st XI v MCC fixtures, along with our 1st XI entering the HMC T20 competition. We were also a World Cup training venue in Summer 2019 and we organise an annual U13 Tour to North Devon.
Girls’ cricket was introduced as of Summer 2018 with fixtures taking place in a number of formats against other schools.
