Leadership

Leadership is about inspiration and each child is inspirational. Together, we are creating an inspiring vision of the future and building compassionate and active citizens. Leadership is about listening, learning and working together and every voice counts. The confidence gained at the Cathedral School will allow each child to get the best out of their life.

At the Cathedral School, we believe that leadership is about inspiration – and each one of our pupils is inspirational. We listen, learn and work together – and every voice counts. Together, pupils, staff and parents help create an inspiring vision of the future. This may be formally, through the pupil forums, the House captains, the student leadership teams, or the sports captains. Informally, pupils learn to motivate and manage through the Head’s Award and the Duke of Edinburgh's Award, through the wide-ranging House competitions and supporting others through the peer listening scheme.

“Many pupils develop valuable leadership skills through their involvement in a worthwhile range of roles and responsibilities, which they undertake enthusiastically." Estyn, 2018

Parents too are encouraged to get involved through the Friends of The Cathedral School – a hugely supportive and hard-working group.

We create an awareness that leadership is not just a privilege, but an obligation. As one reads in the Mabinogion ‘to be a leader, first be a bridge’.

“It’s a privilege to have had the chance to develop our leadership skills, while at the same time giving something back to the School.” Sixth Form Student
