Jazz

Jazz is a much-valued and celebrated area of music at the Cathedral School. The saxophone is a popular instrument here and there are frequent opportunities for solo and ensemble Jazz performance throughout the year, most especially our ‘Springtime Swing’ concert in May.

Jazz Band (Wednesday 13:10-13:35)

Our principal Jazz ensemble, constructed as a traditional Swing Band. Carefully selected repertoire meets the needs of a wide ability range, ensuring that pupils can enjoy the band from about Grade 4 upwards. Extension opportunity exists for out more able players

Jazz Combos (by arrangement)

Various student-led Jazz combos exist to meet the more advanced aspirations of our older players, especially in the Sixth Form.
